Domain Announcement: Interop Standards, Infrastructure & Analytics

TL;DR: In its inaugural edition under GG24 , the Interop Standards, Infrastructure & Analytics domain thanks Gitcoin and Celo for their support in advancing open data and interoperability for Ethereum’s multi-chain future. The QF round will be hosted on Giveth (Applications: Oct 3 – 17 | Donations: Oct 14 – 28) to help fund the standards, infra & analytics that keep Ethereum connected.

Interop Standards, Infrastructure & Analytics: A Long-Term Domain for Ethereum’s Multi-Chain Future

Ethereum has reached a stage where its growth depends on more than scaling throughput. Rollups, L2s, and application-specific chains are multiplying, but without shared standards and credible data, the network risks becoming fragmented and opaque. The Interop Standards, Infrastructure & Analytics domain exists to address this problem directly.

This domain funds the standards, tooling, measurement systems, and pilots that allow Ethereum to function as a connected, transparent, and resilient ecosystem. It is not about any single round, but about building an enduring foundation for interoperability and open data as public goods.

In its inaugural edition under GG24, we thank Gitcoin and Celo for their support in advancing this important effort to strengthen Ethereum’s multi-chain ecosystem through open standards, data, and interoperability infrastructure.

Why This Domain Exists

  1. Ethereum’s edge is credible neutrality: Unlike traditional finance, Ethereum’s data and standards can be open, verifiable, and accessible to all. Yet today, much of the usable layer is locked behind proprietary platforms or fragmented across ecosystems. Without investment in open infrastructure, Ethereum risks losing this advantage.

  2. Scaling has introduced coordination risks: Success with rollups has also created silos of data, liquidity, and governance. Builders and policymakers struggle to see the network as a whole. Interop standards and open analytics are how Ethereum ensures fragmentation does not lead to opacity.

  3. The Open Intents Framework (OIF) as a public good: OIF has been identified by the Ethereum Foundation as a top interoperability priority. It represents a shift toward intent-based execution and cross-chain coordination. Supporting analytics, SDKs, solver infrastructure, and adoption pilots is key to making OIF a reliable standard across L1s and L2s.

What This Domain Seeks to Advance

  1. Open Data Initiatives
Funding explorers, dashboards, and shared data standards that make Ethereum’s growth measurable, transparent, and verifiable. Open data empowers communities, DAOs, and funders to allocate resources with evidence rather than anecdotes.

  2. Interoperability Standards
Supporting the design and adoption of common protocols, e.g., ERC-7683 (intent schema), ERC-7786 (messaging), and EIP-5164 (execution), that reduce friction for builders and ensure users can move seamlessly across the Ethereum stack.

  3. Infrastructure for Multi-Chain Coordination
Investing in APIs, SDKs, solver frameworks, and execution environments that enable applications and agents to interact across rollups, sidechains, and L1s. This lowers entry barriers and prevents duplication of effort.

  4. Evidence-Based Adoption of OIF
Building analytics and measurement systems that track OIF usage, solver performance, and coverage, while running pilots that demonstrate real-world feasibility. This creates the data foundation for scaling intent-based architectures.

Long-Term Goals

  • Unified Visibility: Create a coherent view of activity across Ethereum’s L1 and L2s so ecosystem health can be assessed transparently.
  • Institutional Legitimacy: Provide open, reliable risk and usage analytics that strengthen Ethereum’s position as the most analyzable financial system.
  • Efficient Public Goods Funding: Enable capital allocation that is driven by verifiable impact metrics, not just social signaling, ensuring funds go where they matter most.
  • Default Standards: Ensure OIF and other interop protocols become the baseline for new rollups, DAOs, and agent ecosystems, not just optional add-ons.

Call for Collaboration

This Dedicated Domain was developed through Gitcoin’s GG24 strategic sensemaking, researched, proposed, and voted upon by the community as one of the key focus areas for sustained funding. It represents a long-term commitment to address Ethereum’s interoperability, data, and infrastructure challenges through open, stewarded capital allocation.

We invite developers, researchers, DAOs, funders, and ecosystem partners to help shape its priorities and contribute to building the measurement systems, pilots, and protocols that will define Ethereum’s multi-chain future.
