🌍 Proposal: Gitcoin Grants History Infographic + Localization Pilot (Indian Language)

Hi everyone,

This proposal suggests creating a visual infographic of Gitcoin Grants history β€” showing the messy, beautiful, evolutionary journey of the program. To make it accessible globally, we will also run a localization pilot by translating the infographic into Hindi and Odia, engaging new communities in India and testing how visuals + local languages can improve onboarding.

Gitcoin has a long and evolving history, but new Citizens often find it overwhelming to understand past Grants Rounds.

A visual storytelling tool will:

Simplify onboarding for Citizens and grantees.

Celebrate Gitcoin’s evolution as a community.

Provide a shareable resource for education and outreach.

Adding localization ensures inclusivity: many potential contributors outside English-speaking regions find governance inaccessible.

Scope & Deliverables

  1. Infographic Poster β†’ Gitcoin Grants journey (GG1 β†’ GG24).

  2. Localized Versions β†’ Hindi + Odia translation.

  3. Community Release β†’ Published openly on Gitcoin forum + Discord, downloadable by anyone.

  4. Optional Print-ready Version β†’ usable in hackathons, meetups, and onboarding sessions.

Budget Request

Infographic Design (data viz freelancer) β†’ $800

Translation & Review (Hindi + Odia) β†’ $400

Coordination, publishing, community feedback β†’ $300

Total: $1,500 (paid in USDC/GTC)

KPIs (Success Metrics)

Infographic completed in 3 languages (English, Hindi, Odia).

At least 200 views/downloads in the first month.

At least 10 new Citizens onboarded who found Gitcoin easier to understand through this resource.

Positive feedback: 70%+ of surveyed users rate it useful for onboarding.

Impact for Gitcoin

Improves onboarding & inclusivity.

Creates a reusable template for other DAOs (Gitcoin leading by example).

Strengthens Gitcoin’s identity as a global public goods platform.

Demonstrates how visual + localized tools can bridge governance gaps.

By combining data visualization and localization, this pilot strengthens Gitcoin’s global onboarding, reduces barriers for non-English speakers, and showcases Gitcoin’s story in a way that is engaging and accessible.
