👋 Introducing SUDX: A Simple Idea to Fund Open Source with Web3

Hey Gitcoin folks,

I’m Enio, a solo developer from Brazil. I’ve been building something called SUDX, an open-source project that comes from a very personal frustration: open source software runs almost everything we use, yet the people who maintain it often struggle just to stay afloat.

I’ve seen a lot of gratitude, but not many tools that help turn that appreciation into real, sustainable support. That’s what I’m trying to solve with SUDX.

:bulb: So what is SUDX?

SUDX is a token and protocol on the Polygon blockchain. It’s built to create a bridge between the people who use open source and the ones who build it. The goal is to make financial support and recognition easier, faster, and fully transparent.

The name comes from the Linux sudo command. It gives power and responsibility to the user. That’s the idea behind SUDX too — to give users the power to support developers directly, without needing a third party.

:wrench: What does it actually do?

The protocol is built around four main features:

1. Direct Donations
Anyone can send SUDX tokens directly to developers or projects. No platforms in the way. It’s fast, low-cost, and visible on-chain.

2. Community Governance
We use Aragon to run a DAO where SUDX holders can vote on funding proposals, bounties, and future development. It’s fully open and auditable.

3. On-Chain Reputation (coming soon)
Developers will be able to earn non-transferable reputation tokens based on real contributions: commits, bug fixes, translations, support, and more. These will act like a public Web3 resume.

4. Dev Tool Integration (also coming soon)
The long-term goal is to bring SUDX into Git, GitHub Actions, CI/CD tools, maybe even VSCode. Supporting FOSS should happen where developers already are, not on some separate dashboard.

I funded the initial liquidity myself with around $400. All team tokens and liquidity are locked and can be verified publicly on UNCX.

:classical_building: DAO & Governance

The SUDX DAO is already live on Aragon. Anyone holding SUDX can propose or vote on treasury actions. Here’s the dashboard:

We’ll soon run our first proposals, including transferring admin control to the DAO and starting microgrants for small open source projects.

:motorway: Roadmap

:white_check_mark: Phase 1 (now):

  • Contract deployed
  • Website and docs published
  • Liquidity created and locked
  • DAO launched on Aragon

:yellow_circle: Phase 2 (late 2025):

  • Release first version of donation platform
  • Launch airdrop for contributors
  • Try first small partnerships
  • Apply to Gitcoin Grants
  • List on CoinGecko and CMC

:soon: Phase 3 (2026):

  • On-chain reputation system
  • Dev tool integrations
  • DAO-led funding rounds

:handshake: Why I’m posting here

Because Gitcoin is one of the only communities that really gets it. You’ve built a whole movement around funding public goods, and it’s incredibly inspiring.

I’m here to:

  • Share what I’ve built so far
  • Get feedback from people who’ve walked this path
  • Explore whether SUDX could be a good fit for future Gitcoin Grant rounds
  • Connect with others trying to solve the same problem in different ways

 Final note

I know there are already a lot of great projects working to fund open source. I’m not trying to compete with anyone — I just want to add one more tool to the ecosystem, one that’s simple, on-chain, and made with real care for the people who build the tools we all rely on.

Thanks for reading. Happy to answer questions, hear feedback, or just say hi.

Hello i recently saw your DAO project on SUDX while reading the premise of the project i became highly interested. I would love to join your team and work on automations for you especially in recruiting funding. My telegram is @footballallseason
