Grants Lab Monthly Meeting - September 2024

Here’s a summary:

  1. Kudos and Recognition: Shoutout to team members (Huss and Kurt) for their dedication and support.

  2. Organizational Updates:

    • Principal Engineer’s final decision will be made shortly.
    • New Social Media Manager starts soon.
    • Housekeeping updates including use of Notion Dashboard and internal communication setups.
  3. DevCon Update:

    • DevCon will take place from October 23 - November 6, focusing on community strengthening, builder engagement, and funding through community rounds and easyRPGF rounds.
    • Gitcoin presence at events will be limited.
  4. GG22 Update:

    • Focused on leveraging and growing the Ethereum builder community, aligning with core values of funding public goods, and showcasing Gitcoin technology.
    • Retrospective and redesign sessions have been conducted.
  5. Leadership Insights:

    • Meg highlights concerns about missing GMV (Gross Merchandise Volume) targets and decisions around custom builds and monetization efforts.
    • Owocki discusses the need for scale, remaining runway in stablecoins, and product and engineering rebuild efforts.
  6. August Financial Review:

    • Actual operating expenses were slightly under budget, though some overspending is expected due to investments in Allo 2.1 and the Indexer.
    • Treasury currently has $6.5M in stablecoins, which provides 15 months of runway, plus additional GTC funds.
  7. GMV Update:

    • As of September 11, 2024, GMV totals surpassed $7M, but are ~$1.3M behind the mid-September target due to various challenges, including market corrections.
    • Completion of payouts for GG21/Name and EasyRF rounds, as well as submission of a new RFP for Name.
    • Progress on service offerings and increased engineering focus.
  8. September GMV Focus:

    • Running rounds for multiple projects (Metis, Lukso, Polygon, Avalanche, Octant).
    • Aiming to push more payouts and close significant opportunities in Q4.
