Consider Migrating Gitcoin DAO Governance to Degov

Hello Gitcoin community,

I’m Bear Wang, from the DeGov team. I have been following Gitcoin for a while and I am impressed by the community and the work you have done. As Tally will be shutting down its services soon https://x.com/tallyxyz/status/2033917127304814802, Gitcoin needs to find an alternative platform for governance. I would like to suggest considering Degov as a potential replacement.

DeGov GitHub - ringecosystem/degov: An open-source system that equips OpenZeppelin Governor DAOs with best user experience and security. · GitHub is an open-source UI interface for the OpenZeppelin Governor contract, which is widely used for on-chain governance. I noticed that Gitcoin DAO is also currently using the OpenZeppelin Governor contract. This means that migrating to DeGov would be relatively straightforward, as it is designed to solve this exact use case. You can check the existing DAOs on DeGov Square https://square.degov.ai/ to see how it works.

As for price and deployment, DeGov is open-source and free to use and self-host by following Overview - DeGov.AI Docs. Alternatively, you can choose our hosting service at a reasonable price (see Pricing | DeGov.AI). Recently, some DAOs have already decided to consider migrating to DeGov, such as Lisk Test proposal #2: a new voting platform - General - Lisk Governance Forum, so I think it is worth considering for Gitcoin DAO as well.

If you have any questions about DeGov or want to discuss the migration process, please feel free to reach out. I am happy to provide more information and assist in any way I can.

We have just provided support for Gitcoin DAO governance, and you can check it out here: https://gitcoin.degov.ai.

DeGov seems relatively small and not established enough. Given Gitcoin’s governance importance, I’d be cautious and would want to see more maturity before considering a migration.
