Focusing Gitcoin's Future: Sunsetting Grants Stack [EoL May 2025]

Hey Rena,

Thank you for all the updates, which I’ve been closely following. I got the winding down of the grants lab team but apparently I did read over the taking down Grants Stack itself, and with it everyone’s projects and history.

Explorer.gitcoin.co now simply gives an error page, which is a bit… brutal for people who have missed this update here on the forum or @owocki’s tweets, which focus on grants lab first and foremost (not on grants stack - most people don’t know what grants stack stood for anyway).

I assume many links will also have broken all over the place (this is how I bumped into it myself, seeing the broken link on the Open Collective homepage, wanted to find our project description)

Are the hosting costs for this frontend so high that this needed to be taken offline immediately?
I assume what is here is still very useful for future Gitcoin Grants rounds?

Just a suggestion: would it not be possible to keep this database online (and just remove the ‘create new rounds’ button) so people can at least recuperate their info for future grants rounds? It would also make it easier for people to actually fork grants stack if you add some context and a button to github here.

I’ve read references Open Source Observer but can’t find any content there (also, not all content on there was per se open source).

Thanks & apologies if I’m asking questions answered elsewhere (but the fact that I just bump into error pages shows I’m prob not the only one)
